Work & Professional Career

Dr. Md. Shirajul Islam joined the Bangladesh Government Health Service in 2005, obtained his FCPS fellowship in 2006, and was appointed Associate Professor in 2025 following prior promotions to Junior Consultant (2013) and Assistant Professor (2015).

With extensive surgical experience—having averaged 500 cataract operations monthly at a district hospital—he now serves at Gopalganj Eye Hospital & Training Institute. His current practice focuses on phacoemulsification and medical retina interventions, including intravitreal injections and retinal laser treatment.

🏆 Highest performance record as a single surgeon in Bangladesh, officially declared as a 'Swift Surgeon' by the Government. He started private practice in Gopalganj District in 2007, and later joined Hikmah Specialized Eye Hospital in 2016.
